Akshay Kumar recently expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recognizing Chettur Sankaran Nair’s pivotal role in India’s freedom movement. This acknowledgment comes just ahead of the release of his upcoming film, Kesari Chapter 2, in which he portrays Nair.

PM Modi’s Tribute to Chettur Sankaran Nair

On April 14, during a speech in Haryana, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the historical significance of Baisakhi, marking 106 years since the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He honored Nair’s courageous stand against British colonial rule following the tragic event. Despite being from Kerala, Nair took a bold step to seek justice for the massacre that occurred in Punjab:

    • He resigned from a prestigious post in protest.
    • He challenged the British government in court.
    • His defiance caused ripples throughout the colonial administration.

Akshay Kumar shared a clip of the Prime Minister’s speech on social media, thanking him for bringing attention to Nair’s legacy. He emphasized the importance of educating younger generations about the sacrifices of freedom fighters, stating that their courage laid the foundation for the liberties we enjoy today.

    About Kesari Chapter 2

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 delves into the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy. The film highlights Nair’s legal resistance and the personal toll of standing up to a powerful empire. The cast includes:

    • Akshay Kumar as Chettur Sankaran Nair
    • Ananya Panday as Dilreet Gill
    • R. Madhavan as Neville Mckinley

The film is produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films, and is scheduled for release on April 18, 2025.

A Tribute to Courage and Justice

Through Kesari Chapter 2, Akshay Kumar aims to inspire reflection and pride in India’s rich history of resistance and justice. The film serves as a tribute to the unyielding spirit of those who fought for the nation’s freedom, reminding viewers that liberty is a legacy that must be honored and preserved.
